The 2026 LAX Traveler’s Guide: Terminals, Transit & Updates

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is nearing the end of one of the largest infrastructure overhauls in US history. As local transport experts, Flat Rate Car Service provides the real-time "Ground Truth" you need to navigate the airport loop during this final transition phase.

Terminal Layout & Navigation

LAX features nine terminals connected by a two-level roadway. Understanding where to meet your driver is the key to a stress-free arrival.

  • Lower Level (Arrivals): This is where you will meet your Flat Rate LAX chauffeur. Standard pickups occur at the Outer Island (White Curb).

  • Upper Level (Departures): Use this level for all airline check-ins and drop-offs.

  • Tom Bradley International (TBIT): The primary hub for international arrivals. If you have booked our Meet & Greet Service, your driver will be waiting in the Arrivals Meeting Hall just past customs.

Skylink People Mover Status (2026)

While the Skylink Automated People Mover trains have officially begun full-schedule testing, they are currently running without passengers. Until public service begins later this year, travelers must still navigate the terminal horseshoe via traditional shuttles or walking. Our Terminal-Direct Car Service remains the only way to bypass these transit delays and head directly to your destination.

Avoiding the ConRAC Transit

The new Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility is now the central hub for all rental vehicles. However, until the People Mover is fully operational for the public, reaching it requires utilizing airport shuttles that can be impacted by loop traffic. By booking a private car, you skip the rental shuttle entirely and get on the road minutes after landing.

Major Infrastructure Updates

  • Terminal 4 Modernization: Ongoing work at Terminal 4 (American Airlines) continues to impact curbside pickup zones. We monitor these changes daily to ensure your driver is positioned at the most accessible pillar.

  • The "Airside" Connection: For passengers connecting between Terminal 4 (American) and Tom Bradley (TBIT), utilize the secure connector bridge to stay inside security. If your journey ends at LAX, we recommend exiting at your final arrival terminal to meet your driver at the white curb.
